The therapeutic process is a way of showing yourself love and acceptance. Good for you for taking the first step! I believe individuals have the answers within themselves. My job is to be a guide and provide different tools to help each person meet their own therapeutic needs. A few therapeutic tools I use are cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, strength-based, and expressive arts. I am in the early stages of becoming trained in EMDR. I take a holistic and eclectic approach to counseling and educating individuals on how their mind, body, and spirt are inner connected. My favorite part of the therapeutic process is watching as a client has an “Ah ha” moment. While I can’t promise the therapeutic process will be easy, I can promise it will be worth it.
“If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can’t survive.” -Brene Brown-
