KATIE SCHAEFER,LPC,NCC,RPT

LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR

With seven years of experience in a large public school setting, Katie has worked with children, teens, and adolescents experiencing a number of struggles including adjustment, anxiety, behavior, depression, and trauma. Katie uses a non-directive child-centered approach to therapy allowing children to lead the play in the direction they need to go.

Although play looks a little different as children get older, expressive play techniques can help teens and adolescents confront their struggles in a non-threatening space.

Children naturally communicate through their play. Play therapists believe toys are children’s words and play is their language. Play therapy allows children to express their emotions and experiences in a safe and accepting environment. As a Registered Play Therapist, Katie is passionate about the power of play therapy in helping children find their “voice” and move in the direction of hope and healing.
